چکیده
We study the major MW = 7.0, 30 October 2020, Samos earthquake and its aftershocks, by calculating improved locations using differential travel times waveform cross-correlations. image rupture of mainshock local strong motion data, we examine Coulomb stress evolution prior to mainshock, as well coseismic changes. Lastly, estimate produced shaking all available information from data testimonies. Earthquake relocations reveal activation E-W oriented Kaystrios fault, in North basin with a possible extension West. The kinematic inversion suggests non-uniform bilateral on ∼60 km × ∼20 fault area, main propagating towards West maximum slip up approximately 2.5 m. Improved aftershock sequence are anti-correlated areas surface. Similarly, change calculations show that only off-fault clusters located within lobes increasing positive static This observation is consistent assuming area either uniform slip, or variable according obtained model. Both scenarios indicate typical patterns for normal orientation, ∆CFF increments expanding orientation. In case model, both negative changes slightly larger values compared Finally, Modified Mercalli Intensities based model this intensity (VII +) along northern coast Ιsland. Spectral acceleration at 0.3 s period also demonstrate damaging situation Izmir.

Aftershock seismicity of the 2010 Maule Mw=8.8, Chile, earthquake: Correlation between co-seismic slip models and aftershock distribution?
[1] The 27 February 2010 Maule, Chile (Mw=8.8) earthquake is one of the best instrumentally observed subduction zone megathrust events. Here we present locations, magnitudes and cumulative equivalent moment of the first 2 months of aftershocks, recorded on a temporary network deployed within 2 weeks of the occurrence of the mainshock. Using automatically-determined onset times and a back projec...
متن کاملStrong Aftershock Study Based on Coulomb Stress Triggering—A Case Study on the 2016 Ecuador Mw 7.8 Earthquake
The 2016 Ecuador M 7.8 earthquake ruptured the subduction zone boundary between the Nazca plate and the South America plate. This M 7.8 earthquake may have promoted failure in the surrounding crust, where six M ≥ 6 aftershocks occurred following this mainshock. These crustal ruptures were triggered by the high coulomb stress changes produced by the M 7.8 mainshock. Here, we investigate whether ...
متن کاملSlip model of the 2008 Mw 7.9 Wenchuan (China) earthquake derived from co-seismic GPS data
Near-field co-seismic GPS data were used to derive the slip distribution of the 12 May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. Based on field measurements and geological observations, the earthquake is represented by ruptures on the Beichuan fault and a neighboring fault from Pengxian to Guanxian, both dipping with a decreasing angle with depth. Using a layered elastic crust model, we obtained a slip model t...

15 صفحه اولPropagation of Coulomb stress uncertainties in physics-based aftershock models
Stress transfer between earthquakes is recognized as a fundamental mechanism governing aftershock sequences. A common approach to relate stress changes to seismicity rate changes is the rate-and-state constitutive law developed by Dieterich: these elements are the foundation of Coulomb-rate-and-state (CRS) models. Despite the successes of Coulomb hypothesis and of the rate-and-state formulation...
